Director - Motor Assembly
Tasks & Accountabilities
- Accountable for the designing of automated EV motor production lines for product flow, ergonomics and efficiency, scalability, standardization, and continuous quality monitoring
- Responsible for designing, procurement, construction, simulation and deployment of manufacturing EV Motor equipment for low, medium, and high volume production.
- Developing and managing the process for characterization and validation of new equipment, fixtures for the introduction of the production line to the shop floor.
- Develop required control plan for every production and assembly stations for the stator, rotor and motor.
- Evaluation of execution risks and appropriate mitigation plans developed and ownership clearly established
- Development of cost-effective solutions for integration of motor and gearbox; including but not limited to pallet and skid design - traceability, fully
- Capex and strategy for optimized spare parts for the entire line
- Execution of manufacturing engineering, and product engineering advanced technology work projects
- Application of problem solving methodologies for internal and external issue resolution
- Development of advance technology work projects including budgets, deliverables and project timing
- New process development and work with new materials and testing of new materials and development of new component suppliers
- Development of new tooling and gauging methods.
- Providing manufacturing support to develop next generation EV products
- Providing manufacturing support to Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers
Skills, Abilities & Know-how :
- Experience on process development for EESM, PMSM
- Experience on complementing PWT with assembly of gear box, Experience with Stator Winding Technologies, Rotor Grinding
- Experience in Problem Solving Techniques on Key processes of Motor Assembly
- SPC of Key processes like Pressing, Rotor Grinding, Stator Lamination, Magnet Bonding
- Familiar with latest motor manufacturing techniques and innovative approach
- Experience in efficient material flow, Layout creation, Handling PCBAs, Transfer of Motor Materials
- Statement of Requirements (SORs) and project management for tools, stations or specific technologies
- Relationship with Key Automation Suppliers in Motor Assembly Lines
- Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and
Education & Experience
- Degree in manufacturing / production & industrial engineering with experience of working in electrical motor manufacturing industry (preferred)
- More than 20+ years of experience in total with significant experience in manufacturing sector
- Experience and thorough knowledge of production systems and processes
Background :
- Typically part of a larger effort or project, Novel manufacturing process definition and setup & Human factors & Ergonomics Analysis Experience.
- Process management skills
- Experience in providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources.
- Proven strong leadership skills and the ability to facilitate/manage in a matrix
