Protiviti - Service Mechanics - Automotive Division (3-5 yrs)
- Responsible for inspecting and diagnosing vehicle problems and performing requisite repairs, maintenance and installations efficiently as per safety and time standards to achieve objectives of fixing vehicles in the first visit, high customer satisfaction and retention.
- Receive Repair order and discuss vehicle problems to be rectified with Group Leaders; take note of opening and closing time for completion of repair job(s) and inform Group Leader in case additional time is required for effective job completion
- Determine appropriate tests to be performed on a vehicle to accurately diagnose vehicle problems and use appropriate tools and techniques for the same, for e.g., MUT III, injector cleaning machine, pressure gauges and measuring tools, etc.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance and assigned mechanical repair and overhauling of vehicle engines, suspension, steering column, transmission and power train, brakes etc.
- Refer to MMC and other technical service manuals as necessary to complete diagnostic repairs in an effective and timely manner
- Fill out parts requirements for assigned jobs in the Garage Management Information Control System (GAMICS), take Group Leader approvals on Parts Drawing Slip and collect requisite parts from the stores
- Update GAMICS and inform Group Leader as well as Service Advisor in case of non-availability of parts
- Elicit Group Leader approvals on details of any additional service work on the job card
- Feed details of jobs performed and additional jobs as per the job card in GAMICS after necessary Group Leader and Workshop Controller approvals
- Follow guidelines on ensuring cleanliness of customer vehicle during service operations using protective materials
- Record details of faulty mechanical parts covered by warranty in the warranty claim technical report and get approvals by the Group Leader and Technical & Warranty department on the same
- Coordinate with Parts Department to ensure availability of parts after receiving the Warranty Claim Report approved by the Group Leader and Technical & Warranty Department and collect parts by means of the Parts Drawing Slip (PDS)
- Return defective customer parts covered under warranty claims with proper tagging and details of vehicle information to the Technical & Warranty Department
- Provide estimate of parts required to be replaced in case of accidents if requested for the same
- Assist other technicians and provide technical advice and information to others as needed
- Understand and implement new MMC systems or processes related to all mechanic operations in order to improve service quality
- Ensure high individual efficiency and productivity and constantly seek to enhance technical knowledge in different automobile systems
- Comply with Quality Standards and Health & Safety procedures affecting self and others
- Perform routine activities in accordance with agreed deadlines and standards and discharge any other task assigned by superiors in a timely and effective manner
- Assist colleagues and foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration
- Contribute to the department's development by providing timely suggestions and feedback.
