Quality Control Engineer - IOT & Power Electronics Manufacturing Induustry (10-15 yrs)
Role: Quality Control Engineer - IoT and Power Electronics Manufacturing
Experience: 12-15 years
Objective: Drive product quality excellence in IoT and power electronics manufacturing through systematic quality processes, including advanced methodologies like 8D problem-solving, Just-in-Time (JIT), Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke. Oversee end-to-end quality management, from sourcing to final testing, with a focus on reliability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Quality Control Processes:
- Design and enforce quality control procedures specifically for IoT and power electronics manufacturing, integrating methodologies like Just-in-Time (JIT) for efficient resource management, Kaizen for continuous improvement, and Poka-Yoke to eliminate human error.
- Set and monitor quality standards and testing protocols to ensure consistency and reliability of IoT and power electronics devices.
End-to-End Quality Management (Sourcing to Testing):
- Implement quality control measures throughout the production cycle, from component sourcing and supplier audits to in-depth testing on completed devices.
- Conduct incoming quality checks on raw materials, PCB assemblies, and other essential components to ensure they meet strict quality specifications.
Field Failure Analysis (FFA) with 8D Problem-Solving:
- Utilize the 8D (Eight Disciplines) methodology to thoroughly investigate device failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve product resilience.
- Document findings and corrective actions, collaborating with teams to integrate insights and prevent recurring issues.
Quality Audits and Supplier Quality Management:
- Conduct regular quality audits internally and with suppliers, applying JIT principles to minimize waste and improve efficiency in the production process.
- Establish and maintain a supplier quality management system that includes supplier scorecards, evaluations, and continuous improvement feedback loops to ensure consistent quality.
PCB Manufacturing Quality Assurance:
- Oversee quality assurance in PCB manufacturing, including processes like optical inspection, X-ray, in-circuit testing (ICT), and functional testing.
- Address issues related to soldering, component placement, and layer integrity, ensuring PCBs meet design specifications and reliability standards.
Testing and Inspection for IoT and Power Electronics:
- Perform comprehensive testing on power electronic components, including stress, thermal, and environmental reliability checks.
- Validate IoT device performance under real-world conditions to ensure power stability, connectivity, and safety, using Taguchi methods to optimize product robustness and minimize defects.
8D Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement Initiatives (Kaizen):
- Lead cross-functional teams in implementing 8D corrective actions and preventive measures to drive ongoing quality improvements.
- Foster a culture of Kaizen by encouraging team members to participate in continuous improvement activities, with a focus on small, daily enhancements to processes and quality.
Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Data Analysis:
- Monitor production metrics and apply SPC techniques to detect and address process variations early.
- Use trend analysis and data-driven insights to recommend improvements, helping to reduce defects and improve overall process efficiency.
Documentation and Compliance with Industry Standards:
- Maintain comprehensive records of quality control processes, testing results, and failure analysis reports.
- Ensure compliance with international quality standards and methodologies, aiming to achieve zero-defect products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, or related field).
- Proven experience in quality control for IoT, power electronics, and PCB manufacturing.
- Proficiency in quality methodologies such as 8D, SPC, FMEA, Six Sigma, and JIT, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke.
- Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in field failure analysis specific to IoT and power electronics.
- In-depth knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and quality assurance.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and quality issue resolution.
- This role requires a proactive approach to quality control, leveraging advanced methodologies like 8D, JIT, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke to ensure high-reliability products through continuous improvement and rigorous quality management practices.
