Quality Engineer (5-7 yrs)

We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified Quality Engineer with machine shop and/or manufacturing background.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Utilize skills, experience and knowledge to initiate, establish, and sustain methods for controlling the quality and integrity of all systems, processes and procedures related to the production of high quality components including Spar Milling, Long Bed 5 Axis Milling and Structural Assemblies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand and assure compliance with customer blueprints, specifications and other related technical documents.
- Provide training to both hourly and salaried employees to assure conformance of their work to quality system requirements.
- Prepare procedures for technical processes.
- Assure that the documentation of the quality system is controlled, maintained and recorded in a manner consistent with the requirements of AS9100 and all other customer and TECT quality requirements.
- Represent the company during audits of the quality system by customers or third party certification/registration agencies.
- Perform internal and external audits as required to assure compliance with customer and TECT requirements.
- Develop and maintain database systems used to document quality functions.
- Assist manufacturing in performing studies to assess capability and provide control for processes and determine their effectiveness.
- Determine cause and provide corrective action when non-conformances are found by internal audit or by the customer.
- Provide technical advice and instruction and make recommendations regarding material, processing, testing/evaluation, and procurement.
- Originate inspection procedures and methods and oversee their use to assure product quality.
- Review gaging for function and conformance to blueprint requirements.
- Review processing and inspection data to determine process capability.
- Originate and maintain Inspection Method Sheets and submit them for customer approval.
- Assist in creation and maintenance of the Quality System as described in the Quality Manual and associated procedures and actively support a process of continuous improvement.
- Supervise hourly union employees in inspection and conformance areas.
REQUIREMENTS :
Education:
4-yr bachelor's degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace or other relevant discipline
Experience:
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience - required.
- 3+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience - required.
- Experience working directly with customers - required.
- Lean training, Six Sigma Green Belt - preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office
- NADCAP-Preferred highly
- CATIA preferred
- CMM Interpretation and reporting experience preferred
- SPC implementation experience preferred
