R&D Head - Heavy Engineering (24-30 yrs)

- Accountability and objectives Is end to end responsible for developing new products and driving innovation

- Maximises product profitability and product performances

- Is innovative and constantly works on new products/improvement on products and assures competitiveness

- Ensures and consolidates the growth of the technical know-how within working group

- Has knowledge of the Rail standards and applies them on all designs

Key responsibilities : 


- Leads development projects

- Provides cost efficient R & D

- Incorporates relevant design expertise and experience in projects in line with strategy

- Encourages creativity in R & D teams

- Actively searches for best in class technologies and develops innovative road map

- Cooperates closely with product managers to assure customer focus and target costs

- Coordinates product development managers defining the right allocation of the resources

- Establishes and maintains operational budget for his team personnel and equipment

- Constantly upgrades his knowledge and shares technical information and best practices with the team and others

- Encourages "best practices"sharing through particiaption and promotion of meetings,news letters, knowledge sharing tools etc.

- Develops employees assigned to the department ensuring correct application of tools and policies

- Guides employees by evaluation and inputs

Qualification:


-  A degree in engineering from a reputed college

- A master or any other further qualification related to R & D is appreciated

- Experience An experience of 25+ years in R & D is a must

- A minimum of 5+ years as head of R & D or project is needed

- A previous experience in transmission/locomotives is desriable

- Experience in a heavy engineering industry which involves fabricated structures, machined parts, sub assemblies, drive train is essential

- Knowledge Good knowledge of R & D processes related to rail industry is desired

- Extensive knowledge of drive trains/ mechanics of materials is needed

- Should be conversant with SOLID EDGE/Nx/KISSOFT softwares of design

- Knowledge on FEA is a must

- Mindset and interpersonal skills 


- Strong leadeership and ownership needed

- Capability in managing people and complexity in a Indian company, 4 decades old and set to grow exponentially is needed

- Capability to promote team working and collaboration among the different functions together with attitude to measure performances by KPIs is appreciated,

- Analytical rigor and solid process management is needed

- Should be market oriented

- Out of the box thinking and apetite for driving creativity, marketable solution is appreciated
