R&D Manager - Carbon Black Feedstock (3-8 yrs)

Position Summary :

The position will be responsible for the research and development efforts in improving carbon black product quality irrespective of input raw material's quality and meeting quality requirements of customers at optimum cost with the challenge of the availability of consistent quality feedstock

Key Deliverables :

- Analyzing complex heterogeneous oils systems; modeling atomization, developing feedstock optimization methodology etc.

- Researching on functionalization and chemical modification of carbon black feedstock.

- Working towards the development of carbon black with unique properties to solve challenging industrial problems

- Continual development and improvement of reaction processing and carbon black modification

- Lead new product development projects in the area of oil feedstock components rich in naphthalene, methyl-indenes, anthracene, fluorene and other poly-aromatic components and their impact on reaction processes, yield, and the final performance and characteristics of products.

- Interpretation of data using statistical analysis and visualization tools

- Develop pilot plant small scale test experimental plans, design innovative feedstock fractions selection and process flow schemes, and leverage refining and petrochemical understanding to model and lead programs to support new technology development activities and implementation across all plants

- Involve in predictive and prescriptive analytics including but not limited to mathematical optimization

- Provide technical support to Operations, Purchasing functions

- Continuous interaction with Process Technology, Development groups and Quality Control groups to design and interpret robust experiment and to diagnose problems and suggest solutions related to feedstock

- Development of Intellectual property by coming up with new ideas and invention disclosures for process improvement

The Candidate Profile:

Qualification : Minimum of bachelor's degree (B. Tech. / B.E.) in Chemical Engineering/Petroleum Engineering from a recognized Institute.

Desired Skills :

- Strong interest in R&D work and exposure to mathematical modeling, covering predictive engineering.

- A self-starter with previous demonstration of strong leadership and positively influencing others

- High level of creativity and ability to think outside the box to create step out breakthrough technologies

- Strong organizational communication and presentation skills.

- Demonstrated ability in problem solving.

- Good knowledge of petrochemicals or refining technologies.

- Good knowledge about working methodology and principle of Analytical chemistry tools

- Strong quantitative and analytical ability

- Experience in MS word and Excel

- Exposure to Six Sigma methodology
