Hardware Engineering :

You might be wondering why a restaurant company is looking for hardware engineers. Think for a few moments about companies like Amazon (retail) AirBnB (hospitality), Uber (taxis) that have disrupted business as usual in their sectors. Technology was a key enabler for these companies-growth. As a hardware example, observe how Tesla has shaken up the automobile industry, forcing giants like Toyota and Volkswagen to rethink their entire product roadmap.

Hardware Engineering @ Rebel :

The Smart Devices team is tasked with designing and building kitchen devices that deliver the best possible user experience, whether in our cloud kitchens or at the consumer's home. We are a mix of experienced engineers, designers and new graduates, with diverse backgrounds ranging from mechatronics, electronics engineering, automation, food science, software engineering, materials science, design engineering and industrial design. The Role :

The devices that we build need to be robust and reliable, in order to provide a delightful user experience over their entire lifetime. As the resident subject matter expert on product reliability, you will drive design & manufacturing for reliability as a way of life in the team, through component, module & system level FMEA, reliability benchmarking, test plan definition and execution. 

- You will be proficient with data analysis and statistical methods like Weibull Analysis, and use them effectively to interpret test results and field performance data and drive product improvements accordingly. 

- An engineering background and solid understanding of the hardware development process is essential. You will also work closely with and drive improvements at external manufacturing vendors throughout the development and product scale-up cycle. 

- You should be comfortable with high levels of ambiguity, and working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

Desired Background :

1. Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical /Mechatronics /Electrical /Electronics Engineering

2. Machine design principles: DFx, GD&T, FMEA, Ability to read engineering drawings

3. Proficiency with Data analysis & visualization, including tools like JMP, Tableau, Minitab

4. Materials and manufacturing methods

5. Working knowledge of sensors, actuators and robotic mechanisms will be useful
