Reckitt Benckiser - Assistant Manager - Safety (7-10 yrs)

We at RB are looking for an Assistant Manager - EHS. The position is responsible for the Mysore factory compliance with all current legislation for health, safety and environment, through the development and implementation of policies and procedures and managing performance against environmental factor, as well as the development of proposals to meet future legislation. He/she is a key player in the development and promotion of a positive and proactive health and safety culture on site. He/she needs to develop a sound understanding of the site wide health, safety and environment issues and opportunities and to clearly communicate solutions to a broad stakeholder base.

Responsibilities -

Health, Safety & Environment Policies and Procedures-

- In conjunction with senior managers and line managers, development of health and safety policies and procedures and guidance in keeping with best practice

- Guidance on the application of and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures

- Provide, or where necessary source, training for staff in relation to health and safety policies, practice and procedures

- Review of safety and environment policy statements on an annual basis

- Ensure production and quality assurance of local policy statements/fire plans and fire risk assessments

- Devise, develop and monitor effective risk assessment management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies

- Provide independent professional advice and technical information where appropriate to senior managers and line managers to discharge their statutory, common and moral obligations, including keeping staff and managers abreast of changes in HS & E Legislation and Codes of Practice

Monitoring Performance -

- Propose, implement and monitor measures necessary to comply with Health Safety & Environment Legislation and Codes of Practice

- Carry out or arrange workplace safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented

- Ensure that statutory requirements are being upheld throughout the organisation e.g. Risk Assessments etc

Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001:2007) -

- Maintain accident statistics, analyse trends and propose and take remedial action where necessary

- Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses to be investigated, prepare report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action. Where necessary prepare reports to the enforcing authority and senior management as required

- Assist and support departments in the preparation of risk assessments. Monitor the availability and appropriateness of risk assessments and, where necessary, safe working practices

- Maintain a register of First Aiders and ensure the adequate provision of first-aid and welfare facilities. Ensure all First Aiders are appropriately trained

- Liaison with other organisations\relevant authorities and assistance and co-operation concerning audits and remedial actions

- Develop procedures to ensure that contractors, suppliers, consultants and other irregular visitors to the site comply with relevant legislation and safety policies

- Liaison and co-operation with external visiting Health, Safety and Environmental Officers as required

- Support line managers responsible for the maintenance of the H & S database, ensuring statements are available on all hazardous materials and effective risk assessments are in place to manage the handling and use of such substances. All risk assessments to be reviewed annually.

- Support line managers responsible for the maintenance of the OHSAS documentation.

Environmental Management ( ISO 14001:2004)-

- Be the catalyst for activity and commitment to environmental management

- Ensure at least minimum legal compliance and reduce risk of non-compliance

- Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement programmes to deliver these.

- Promote and co-ordinate the integration of environmental management and sustainability issues into policies, rules, products, services and operations

- Provide technical support to Facilities on projects, and on building modifications that have environmental impacts and aspects.

- Support line managers responsible for the maintenance of the ISO documentation

Professional Attribute-

- Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety with 7 - 10 years of experience

Personal Attribute-

- Ability to work in a team and lead/motivate team

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Communication and influencing skills. English Proficient

- Achievement Oriented
