Safal Group - Mechanical Maintenance Manager - Rolling Mill (13-18 yrs)
1. Main purpose of the position :
To ensure that maintenance activities are undertaken and managed in a manner that supports improved equipment reliability and availability, lower maintenance and production costs, improve plant efficiencies, drive continuous improvement, and the overall business sustainability in a safe and healthy manner.
2. Reporting in to this position (designation and level)
a. Mechanical Engineers - Cold Rolling Mills, Galvalume/Galvanising, Colour Coating Line
Candidate Specification :
Qualification : Bachelors of Mechanical/Production Engineering
Years of experience : Minimum 13 Years of experience
Mandatory experience : Maintenace experience of Cold Rolling Mill Complex
- The incumbent should have experience in managing a cross-cultural team
Key responsibilities :
1) Develop and implement the overall Mechanical Maintenance strategy for the company.
2) Maintain current knowledge of maintenance methods and practices, including the use of diagnostic equipment and procedures recommended by equipment manufacturers.
3) Identify gaps in the maintenance processes and implement strategies to close gaps and improve equipment reliability, sustainability, and reduce maintenance costs.
4) Plan for the renewal and overhaul of assets to ensure sustainability.
5) Ensure the safe, efficient and accurate maintenance of equipment according to maintenance procedures, instructions and schedules.
6) Provides engineering support by responding to requests for mechanical problems.
7) Ensure equipment reliability and availability (safe and in good condition at all times).
8) Assess spares needs, identify critical spares and place appropriate orders, and monitor usage.
9) Ensure effective preventive maintenance programs that will minimize service repairs in the long run, and plan and maintain autonomous maintenance.
10) Ensure proper planning in advance of major & annual shutdowns and resources for the same
11) Synchronize maintenance processes with departments in the plant.
12) Responsible for managing and completing all maintenance and repair requests from production in a cost effective and timely manner. This includes prompt response to breakdown to minimize down time, overtime cost and interruption of production.
13) Responsible for talent development and succession planning for the maintenance department
14) Timely documentation and records as required by the business. This includes regular reports for maintenance issues and technical reports.
15) Identify and manage contractors and suppliers by ensuring quality of work and compliance with all company policies and regulatory guidelines.
16) Ensure compliance with the requirements of health and safety legislation, standards, procedures, and practices.
17) Conduct regular risk assessments and audits and identify high risk areas and initiate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
18) Identify, evaluate, plan, implement, and manage projects to improve equipment and safety performance, reduce costs, and ensure sustainability.
19) Initiate, participate and implement improvement programs in maintenance.
4. Budgetary responsibility :
a) Responsible for formulating the budget for maintenance and production and ensuring compliance to the budget.
b) Make necessary reviews when deemed appropriate in consultation with the General Manager and Finance Manager.
c) Ensure that fixed and variable costs are monitored, reviewed and controlled as per the budgetary guidelines.
5. Procurement responsibility :
a) Manage a vendor base to ensure quality and quantity procurement in line with the budgets approved.
b) Overall responsible for taking procurement decisions in consultation with the Supply Chain Department and the BH
c) Ensure that inventory is maintained at optimum level
6. SAP responsibility :
Ensure that all the maintenance processes adhere to the set BPP
7. Administrative responsibility :
a) Ensure compliance the company rules and regulations.
b) Liaise closely with the EHS and QA/compliance functions to ensure compliance with all regulatory and local requirement
c) Ensure adherence to Occupational and Environmental Safety Health Administration standards
