Safety Officer - Chemical Manufcaturing (4-8 yrs)

Roles and Responsibilities :
1. Daily inspection of all safety equipments, Site inspection & House keeping Supervision.
2. Role of supervision in accident prevention.
3. First aid and Emergency Procedures.
4. Maintain tidiness and good housekeeping to prevent hazards at worksite.
5. Ensuring PPE for fire fighting and upkeep of fire protection system fire, fire extinguishers and accessories.
Job Profile :
1) Safe working Conditions :
a. Ensure safe working condition in the workplace and report unsafe conditions to the concerned authority.
b. Ensure compliance of SOPs for Permit system (Hot-Work, Working at Height, confined space entry, Excavation, Cold work Etc )
c. Ensure readiness of fire fighting systems by periodic checking and testing the same on weekly basis.
d. Monitor the usages of personal protective equipment by the employees in the premises.
e. Conduct the safety sampling department wise & monitors the unsafe conditions in a particular department & highlighted the same to the concern persons.
f. Conduct periodical central safety committee meeting and record MOM.
g. Ensure implementation of Action Points within the set time frame
h. Monitor the first aid box in the premises for proper availability of medicines.
i. Conduct periodic mock-drills, prepare reports and implement action points
j. Prepare and maintain documents as well as records
k. Monitor operation and maintenance of Effluent treatment plant and effluent quality.
2) Statutory Compliances / Liasioning :
a. Monitor the monthly reports for air ambient, stack, noise, treated water etc for the parameters set in the MPCB consent
b. Ensure compliance of Factory Acts requirements, such as Pressure Vessel testing reports, Mock-drills report, On-Site-Emergency Plan etc.
c. Investigate incidents and Dangerous Occurrence (DO) and implement corrective and preventive measures and maintain records.
d. Monitor the water consumption for process, cooling tower & domestic as mentioned in the consent & prepare the cess return quarterly.
e. Ensure disposal of hazardous waste to authorized party with intimation to MPCB.
f. File returns of Hazardous waste (Form 4) & Environment Statement(Form 5)
g. Monitor the compliance for the tankers such as fitness certificate, insurance, license & prepare non compliance report & send to concern department
h. Organize Medical Examination of employees and contract workers periodically in conjunction with P&A department and maintain records (Form 7)
3) Safety Promotion :
a. Celebrate the Safety week, by organizing various safety related competitions for the employees.
b. Organize training programs during Safety Week (Training Program, Screening Films, role play)
c. Organize Table-Top exercise on various scenario and monitor the coordination between the teams as per their role identified in the site emergency plan
d. Organize functions like tree plantation, competition on the occasion of world environment day as well as celebration of Fire service day.
4) Training :
a. Impart training on Safety to new recruits, employees, contractors, contract employees.
b. Periodically evaluate Training Effectiveness.
c. Maintain updated records for all the Training activities.

- Bsc with Diploma in safety
- 4-8 years experience in chemical / API manufacturing co
