Role Overview:

As the Section Head for Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the project schedules, design quality, and deliverables across multiple projects. You will provide critical technical leadership and guidance to Project Lead Engineers, ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of technical integrity and regional requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Project Management: Collaborate with Project Lead Engineers to establish and monitor project schedules and ensure the quality of design work, including modeling and deliverables.

- Work-Hour and Scope Review: Review work-hour estimates and deliverable schedules for proposals and projects. Engage with Head Office Department Managers to finalize scope, efforts, and benchmarking.

- Technical Leadership: Provide expert technical support to Leads, ensuring that all projects maintain their technical integrity. Identify technical risks, define mitigation strategies, and share best practices from Global Integrated Delivery (GID) projects.

- Problem Solving: Actively participate in resolving major issues, achieving project milestones, and guiding the implementation of lessons learned across programs and projects.

- Coordination and Communication: Attend biweekly calls with regional managers, support the Department Manager in maintaining strong relationships with the lead office, and serve as the primary contact for new projects. Work closely with Key Account Managers (KAMs), Project Managers (PMs), and Project Engineering Managers (PEMs).

- Interface Resolution: Coordinate with other discipline section heads to resolve any interface issues, ensuring smooth collaboration across departments.

- Regular Reviews and Meetings: Conduct regular meetings with Project Lead Engineers to review key aspects of project performance, including schedule adherence, productivity, quality, and risk management. Implement data-centric approaches and digital tools to enhance project outcomes.

- Resource Optimization: Ensure that team resources are effectively utilized and that Leads proactively manage scope changes, delays, and concerns with valid justifications.

- Lead Engineer Role: In addition to your leadership responsibilities, take on the role of Lead Engineer for specific projects, ensuring hands-on involvement in project execution.

- Knowledge Sharing and Development: Regularly connect with other Section Heads to align on common goals, share lessons learned, and foster cross-learning. Develop Individual Development Plans (IDP) for team members and contribute to succession planning with the Department Manager.

- Competency Improvement: Engage in ongoing discussions with the Department Manager to enhance team competencies and support professional development initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience: A minimum of 20+ years in a similar industry, with extensive experience in project management and technical leadership.
