Lead / Principal Engineer, PCB Design

About the job:

The primary role of the candidate is to lead a team of PCB engineers, wherein the team is responsible to perform PCB layout of electronic controllers designed at SEDEMAC, while coordinating with an interdisciplinary team comprising circuit design engineers, mechanical design engineers and manufacturing engineers. The electronic controllers designed at SEDEMAC are typically those involving mixed signal circuits and power electronics for automotive, generator set and telematics applications.

Responsibilities and Required skills :

- Customer Requirement Understanding : Proficient in interpreting and meeting internal and external customer specifications for automotive and off-highway applications, and relevant for PCBs manufactured into large volumes.

- Project, Resource and Program Management : Effectively allocate PCB engineers and manage projects in SEDEMAC's dynamic environment, adapting to frequent priority changes.

- Team Leadership and Training : Lead and mentor the PCB layout team, developing training modules and white-papers to enhance their skills and knowledge

- PCB Design Proficiency : Expertise in managing component libraries as per IPC, drafting detailed schematics, and designing innovative PCB layouts with a focus on manufacturability and size constraints. Conduct thorough PCB layout reviews, ensuring that best practices and past learnings are incorporated into every design.

- Gerber and Panelling : Skilled in generating accurate Gerber files, performing efficient panelling, and collaborating with PCB suppliers to address technical queries and ensure seamless manufacturing processes.

- EMI/EMC and Thermal Management : Good knowledge of EMI/EMC, Power and Signal integrity principles from a layout perspective, combined with effective thermal management strategies in PCB design to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

- PCB Root Cause Analysis and Quality Check : Skilled in conducting thorough root cause analysis and quality checks to quickly identify and resolve PCB-related issues. Develop and use systematic review checklists to maintain high design standards and ensure reliability.

- Statutory and Regulatory Awareness : Good understanding of automotive industry-specific statutory and regulatory requirements, ensuring designs meet relevant standards and regulations in accordance with customer specifications.

- Knowledge of 7QC Tools : Proficiency in applying the 7QC tools, such as checklists and observation graphs, for effective quality control and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Product Safety Awareness: Good understanding of design principles focused on product safety to ensure that the PCB designs meet the safety standards and regulations as per requirements.

Desired technical skills :

- Proficiency in a PCB CAD tools (PADs Professional and Gerber Logix is a plus, while knowledge of Eagle, Corel and Saturn is also mildly desirable)

Desired soft skills:

- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for effective collaboration with cross functional teams, stakeholders, and customers, ensuring clarity and alignment on project goals.

- Strong sense of ethics

Additional information:

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering

- 10+ years
