TITLE: Senior Engineer- Sourcing

REPORTS TO: Sourcing Manager

LOCATION: Coimbatore, India

I. Purpose of Position

This position shall have full responsibility of assigned commodities on both strategic and tactical level

Assigned commodities: Castings especially aluminium die castings, Machining, Plastic, Rubber, Powder Metal, Sheet Metal, Hydraulic etc.

II. Key Responsibilities:

Commodity strategy & supply base management

- Implement regional sourcing strategy for assigned commodities, align with company long-term goal and Low Cost Region sourcing strategy

- Develop, maintain & optimize regional supply base to achieve operational excellence

Projects Management

- Lead projects working with suppliers, support external and internal customers on:

- Supplier transition projects

- New Product Introduction projects

- Low Cost Region projects

- Use project management tools to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.

Supplier management

Supplier Introduction:

- Supplier identification, evaluation and qualification

- Supplier relationship management

- Supplier Capacity Management

Cost

- Prepare RFQ and price finalization.

- Work under philosophy of Total Cost Ownership. Manage supplier Master Agreement, drive year on year cost reduction.

- Tooling management, replacement, budget plan and tracking.

Quality

- Work with SQE on PPAP, process audit.

- Develop new supplier per need, participate in supplier audit.

- 2nd tier supplier quality control per need.

Delivery

- Improve OTD, manage forecast, delivery schedule.

III. Measure of performance

- On-time implementation of projects.

- Achieve cost saving targets.

- Commodity strategy plan & implementation.

IV. Background and Skill:

- Bachelor degree in Mech/ Metallurgical Engineering

- 6-8 years related sourcing experience

- Sound knowledge of mechanical parts manufacturing processes.

- Sound knowledge of costing and excellent negotiation skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with fluent oral and written English

- PPAP, strong problem solving skills

- Expert in Excel, PPT etc.

VI. Scope and Impact of Position Responsibilities

- This position runs full responsibility of assigned commodities on both strategic & tactical level.

- Essentially, this position shall be responsible for optimizing regional commodity strategy, increase supplier performance from QDC, to achieve corporate LCR target with best practice.
