Senior Hardware Designer - Power Electonics & Drives (6-15 yrs)
Roles & responsibilities:
- End to end development (inclusive of mechanical and thermal design) of high power DC-DC converters suitable for EV batteries.
- End to end development of high power motor drives (inclusive of mechanical and thermal design) suitable for Commercial EV.
- End to end development of BMS for EV batteries.
- Develop in-house development capability for BMS, DC-DC converters and drives.
- Logic development and selection of axillaries required for EV batteries.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Working with the battery team to improve and optimize battery performance
- Lead the hardware development, implementation and testing of high power converters and drives.
- Sensor testing and calibration
- Working with vendors such as PCB manufacturers, sensor and control unit retailers and testing agencies as per product development requirements.
What we look for :
- M.Tech/PhD in Power electronics, BTech in Electrical/Electronics/ Mechanical.
- 7+ years (10+ years for B.Tech) of industrial experience in design and development of high power converters and drives.
- Zeal to lead the design and Development of Power electronics products at Chakr Innovation
Salary range:

Required skills:
- Power Electronics expert (in DC-DC Converters, Inverters)
- Design and development experience in high power (over 20kW) DC-DC Converters, Inverters and motor drives.
- Experience of Power electronics simulation using MATLAB, PSIM, PSCAD, etc.
- Can analyse the thermal requirements and design the cooling system of the converter.
- Knowledge of control of AC and DC industrial motors (like PMSM. BLDC, induction) and drives.
- Must have experience in EMI and EMC designing and testing.
- Design experience of BMS for EV (preferable)
- Theoretical understanding of batteries using Li-ion/other chemistries (hands-on experience on batteries is a plus)
- Experience of using Industrial sensors, integration and calibration.
- Embedded level programming skills in 32-bit ARM processor core (preferable)
- Experience of using various communication protocols (CAN, LIN, I2C, SPI, UART etc.)
- Experience in PCB designing on Electrical CAD.
- Experience of motor design and development(preferable).
- Testing experience for Indian electrical standards on BMS, DC-DC converter and safety (ex.: IS-5216, IS-5571, IS 7788, IS-62368).
