Education:

A Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering and Industrial Engineering from a reputed university with good academics. An aptitude for product design is necessary.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior/Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team at the Centre for Process Development at Borosil Scientific Limited, Pune. The role focuses on designing world-class pilot and plant-scale process equipment and reactors. As Senior Engineer of you will lead a team of 1-2 Mechanical engineers working on all product development stages from research, design, vendor development and manufacturing. You will also be responsible for prototyping of the solutions before full scale implementation. You are expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

- Technically guide junior engineers as well as deliver design projects as per schedule.

- Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, coordinate manufacture and support after sales support teams).

- Build proof-of-concept models and test them to define performance parameters.

- An urge to prototype and prove design ideas with good hands on skills.

- Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.

- Evaluate the final product's overall performance, reliability and safety.

- Co-ordinate with external vendors and internal manufacturing teams for component and system development.

- Prepare product reports and documentation (Assembly Plan, SoP, Drawings, etc.)

The profile expects you to have the following skills:

- Candidates applying to Sr / Lead Mechanical engineer's post should have proven team handling skills.

- Basic work experience, finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) will be added advantages.

- Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAE) and with Solidworks, Google Sheets/Excel, PLM and 3D rendering.

- Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.

- Creativity and analytical skills

- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner

- Basic work experience, finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) will be added advantages.

- The ideal candidate is a skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 5-8 years of experience, possessing a Bachelor's or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering. 

- They have a strong aptitude for product design, proven team-handling experience, and expertise in designing and developing process equipment and reactors. Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAE tools, and experience in prototyping and testing are essential. 

- They exhibit a solid understanding of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, and materials science, along with hands-on skills in prototyping and vendor coordination. Strong analytical, creative, and communication skills are a must, with additional experience in FEA and CFD being advantageous.
