Senior Manager - Product Development & Quality Assurance - Premium Cooking Oil Company (8-15 yrs)
Our client is a domestic leader in Premium Cooking Oils in the branded consumer product space since the last 60 years. They have 125 distributors and 25000 retailers across rural and urban markets in just Maharashtra and are looking forward to expand in other markets. They are thus expanding their team and they need a Product Development and QA specialist, reporting directly into the CEO, based out of their corporate office in Mumbai.
Ideally you have an Engineering degree in Chemical/Food Technology stream and MBA from Tier 1 or 2 Business School with a work experience of 8 years and not exceeding 15 years in FMCG and strictly in the Consumer Product driven market (B2C). You should know the concepts around product design, quality & plant operation and for atleast 2-3 Years you should have held supervisory or managerial position. You should also have an overall 3-5 years of product development experience in a FMCG/ Edible Oil industry. Having Certifications in ISO / Six Sigma / Kosher / Inspection & Testing / Factory Compliance / FSSC 22000, etc. will be an advantage. You should have good communication skills and you should be open to travel.
Reporting into the CEO and heading the Product Development and QA vertical, you would be responsible for:
- Managing and controlling all plant compliance issues including Food, Plant and Labour related compliances.
- Controlling production and quality standards, Overseeing and leading Quality Assurance and Quality Audits of Plant and Raw Materials.
- Investigating appropriate materials and production processes and setting standards for quality and health and safety
- Ensuring that manufacturing processes comply with standards at both national and international level.
- Formulating new production processes or stages within processes.
- Determining, negotiating and agreeing on in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications
- Conducting trials of New Products including product and packaging specifications and creating viable Prototypes.
- Generating ideas for new products and researching feasibility in terms of profitability, resource availability and compliance with regulations.
- Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments
- Liaising with engineering, research, technical and/or production staff, evaluating, selecting and negotiating with suppliers. Identifying and choosing products from suppliers
- Generating new packaging products in response to mandates.
- Ensuring that packaging products meet set requirements and specifications
- Producing samples to try out different materials and designs.
- Running trials to check packaging for suitability and testing for performance under various conditions.
- Working with operating staff to establish procedures, standards, systems and procedures
- Writing management and technical reports and customers- charters
- Acting as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality
- Lead the process for supplier selection and ensuring that supplier relationships are maintained and strengthened over a period of time
- Overseeing the execution of all contracts signed between the Business and the supplier in collaboration with Procurement and Legal Team
- Inducted stock track management process in reducing inventory shrinkage and expiration.
- Designing, Coaching and Implementing Lean/Six Sigma process improvement programs by identifying opportunities to improve business performance in all dimensions.
