Senior Manager - Vehicle Costing (8-12 yrs)
Primary Tasks :
Pre-Program Approval Phase :
- Establish cost assessment work plans to support program milestone timing
- Manage cost assessment process to establish cost targets (material & supplier tooling) to support product team business cases between Concept Direction & Program Approval
- Rationalize target cost submissions (variable & supplier tooling) & lead resolution of issues
- Create vehicle cost roll-up (variable) for all required configurations
- Create vehicle cost roll-up for supplier tooling
- Ensure no significant components or costs are missing for vehicle cost roll-ups
- Ensure vehicle cost roll-ups maintain alignment with the product grid as it evolves during the cost assessment process
- Create detailed vehicle options cost deck
- Develop Product Committee presentation material for vehicle cost (variable & supplier tooling) for Program Approval
Post Program Approval Phase:
Change Management
- Review changes to determine if within the scope of the program
- Calculate total supplier tooling impact to program and total variable cost impact to specific track vehicles
- Ensure program funding is available to support the change
- Document concurrence to the change within the change document
- Track the cost impact to the vehicle program for change management activities (variable & supplier toolinppppg)
Sourcing :
- Verify the availability of program budget (variable, supplier tooling) prior to the initial placement of business
- Scrutinize placement costs in excess of target cost or SCIE technical cost
- Track the cost impact to the vehicle program from sourcing activities (variable & supplier tooling)
Checkbook :
- Configure selected vehicle(s) in cost system
- Maintain a checkbook summarizing current status to vehicle target for supplier tooling and for variable cost of specific vehicle configurations
- Provide MR & Finance with updated checkbooks on a regular cadence, discuss cost assessment changes from checkbook to the checkbook and notify the team of spending issues/concerns
Secondary Tasks :
- Approve tooling requisitions in a timely manner within Penta-SAP by confirming the amount on the requisition matches source documents (Target Offset, Change Notice)
- Support annual Product Cost Study by supplying missing purchase order cost information, verify inclusion of approved CNs not yet reflected in purchase orders, verifying BOM structure is complete, and providing a model year to model year reconciliation
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, MBA is an added advantage
Experience Essential :
- 10-15 years of automotive industry experience with 5 years in vehicle cost synthesis with a Tier1 or OEM
- Engineering/ Vehicle Program Management experience
- Good understanding of BIW / Chassis / Power train / Exterior / Interior / Engine System parts
- Knowledge about vehicle manufacturing process and familiarity of components and their approximate costs
- Good negotiation, problem-solving and customer relationship skills
- Good Presentation and MS Office skills
- Good communication skills (Oral & Written)
Specific Skill Requirement :
- Vehicle Cost Engineering, Vehicle manufacturing process knowledge,
- Engineering/ Vehicle Program Management experience-
- Travel Requirements Should be willing to travel as required by the project requirements
