Job Title : Senior MEP Engineer - Construction (10+ Years Experience)
Job Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior MEP Engineer to join our construction team. The Senior MEP Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, installation, and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for our construction projects. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in MEP engineering within the construction industry.
Responsibilities :
Design and Planning :
- Lead the design and planning of MEP systems, ensuring they align with project requirements, codes, and standards.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly.
Coordination and Integration :
- Coordinate the integration of MEP systems into the overall project design, ensuring efficient space utilization and functionality.
- Resolve design conflicts and clashes to optimize system performance and aesthetics.
Project Management :
- Oversee MEP engineering activities throughout all project phases, from concept to construction and commissioning.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for MEP-related tasks.
Technical Expertise :
- Provide expert guidance on MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and lighting systems.
- Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
Quality Control and Assurance :
- Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure MEP systems meet industry standards and project specifications.
- Conduct inspections and testing to verify system performance and functionality.
Vendor and Contractor Management :
- Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to procure MEP materials and equipment and oversee their installation.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals, and monitor their work to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Uphold and enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and practices for all MEP-related activities.
- Promote a culture of safety among project teams and subcontractors.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting :
- Identify and address technical challenges, system malfunctions, and design issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
Client Communication :
- Maintain open lines of communication with clients, providing updates on MEP-related progress and addressing any concerns.
Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of MEP design, calculations, test results, and project correspondence.
Continuous Improvement :
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in MEP engineering.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in MEP engineering within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in MEP design software and tools.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
- P.E. (Professional Engineer) licensure is a plus.
- Experience with green building and sustainability practices is desirable.
