Shift Incharge - Manufacturing Process (5-10 yrs)
To manage a production shift team and be responsible for site production activities during the shift. To act as most senior site person out of normal hours.
Key Job Responsibilities:
1. To be responsible for shift production against targets including SHE, Quality, production rates (OEE), customer satisfaction. To report on any deviation from targets and investigate the causes and recommend corrective actions.
2. To identify and deal with emergency situations and follow emergenc procedures, this will involve direct liaison with the emergency services and regulatory bodies (HSE, EA etc)
3. To efficiently manage and motivate a shift team of multi-skilled technicians, having some measure of responsibility (site specific) for training, coaching, development, performance monitoring, discipline, appraisal, recognition of their team. To be highly visible in encouraging safe behavior, setting high standards and not tolerating substandard work especially in relation to rule and procedural based violations.
4. To understand a complex variety of production plants and processes in order to identify risk and solve problems and make frequent decisions with potentially serious consequences around safety, quality and prioritization of production. To lead multi-disciplinary teams to decide on and implement ideas for improvement.
5. To effectively and accurately communicate with people in the production team and other functions on site (e.g. Quality, Maintenance, Planning & logistics). This will be mainly verbal, e-mail and written. To be the first point of contact in operational issues affecting our key external relationships. The shift managers will have to make timely decisions which can have large impact which could effect external organizations and other companies.
6. To be accountable for the planning and organization of materials and resources on shift and oncoming shifts in order to achieve the site logistics and production plans. This can involve manpower outside the production teams.
7. To risk assess relevant activities and advise on risk reduction. To be accountable for the standard of permits to work issued on their shift.
Desired profile of the candidate Bachelor's in chemical/Petrochemical Engineering with at least 6 years of experience in batch Manufacturing Process/Operations from Chemical/Petrochemical/Specialty Chemical Industries.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities Required:
- Techniques and computer systems. To understand the importance of working to instructions and paying attention to detail.
- To effectively use the knowledge above to set standards and drive improvement and lead change by being an effective manager of a diverse team.
- To be able to make timely decision around complex problems and understand the possible impact of these large decisions, often without discussion with management
