Sr. Quality Inspection Engineer - Railway Sector (10-15 yrs)
Purpose of Position
- The job incumbent is responsible for inspection in QA/QC field of IND business (Railway Industries )
- He usually carries out his tasks independently, with minimum supervision, and these may be on well-identified, or isolated assets, or on complex installations.
Major Responsibilities
- Review of applicable contractual requirements (technical standards, specifications, etc) & highlight execution/inspection problems if any for Loco Frame Parts - Gear Case, Fabricated Bogie Frame Assembly, Cab Assembly, Casting Iron Link MAC, Fuel Filter Assembly
- Inspection of Bogie Frame / Bogie Assembly : From raw material stage to final stage, as per different codes & standards like IS : 2062, IS : 2102, IS : 813, IS : 817, IS: 9595, IS : 3658, IS : 5334, IS : 4225, ASTM A: 435, ASTM E-164, IS : 7307 (Part-I), IS : 7310 (Part-I), IRS : M 28, IRS : M 46, ASTM E1955 - 04, ASTM E390 - 15, RDSO's MC - 4, RDSO's MC - 29, ISO 3834 - 2, ISO 8501 - 1, ISO 9013, ISO 14731, EN - 287 -1, EMD- sETI 827, EMD's AI 2525, IS : 2074, IS : 8662
- Inspection of Plates, ERW& SS pipes & Forgings as per ASTM, IS and API standards. Including Raw-material stage to Final inspection i.e. review of documents, witness of strip & pipe U.T., Eddy-current testing, MPT, Hydro-test, mechanical test & other test requirements.
- Inspection of Castings: Inspection of Critical jobs like Shafts & Roller assemblies, Gears, Mill Heads, with activities like Raw Material Identification, Applicable physical & chemical Testing, U.T. in proof machined condition, final inspection after machining, M.P.I., D.P.T.
- Inspection of Steel structure M.P.I., D.P.T., and UT of parts. Also includes inspection of other structural parts like structural steel section, trusses, and towers.
- Selection of the most appropriate inspection techniques.
- Monitoring, coaching and supervising of one or more inspectors.
- Vendor Assessment: An audit activity on documentation & different aspects of quality control & quality assurance at vendor's site, analysis of system of NC follow ups & effectiveness of implementation of QMS, product testing. Subsequent Vendor Rating on the basis of observations. Capacity assessment of manufacturing facilities of manufacturers for various clients.
- Project coordination & management:
Preparation & implementation of inspection checklists.
Project coordination & management for inspection of bought out items and site inspections for various
Project coordination for fabricated structural parts
Qualification and Experience
- Engineering Graduate / (Mechanical Engineer) / Production / Industrial/Railways) with min. 8yrs of industry experience with 3-5 yrs experience in Railway sector.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Standards
- Experience on Similar Industry in Quality Control/ Quality Assurance Department
- Knowledge on Calibration of Tools & Gauges
- NDT Qualification : ASNT Level II, PT, UT, MT, RT, Certification Course on Welding such as International Welding Expert, International Welding Technology
