Technical Head - Research & Development - Polymer/Plastic Engineering (15-20 yrs)
About company :
One of the largest acrylic emulsions manufacturers in India with leading market position in pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) and emerging position in coating emulsions.
Business: Adhesives & Paint Emulsions
Function: R & D
Reports to: Chairman / Managing Director
Direct reports: R & D Team (15 - 16 people)
Qualifications :
- MSc. (Organic) / MTech in Chemical Engineering / Polymers, preferably with specialization in Polymer Emulsions.
- PhD qualifications would be an added advantage.
Experience :
- 15-20 years relevant research experience in the Chemical Industry - specific exposure to adhesives, polymers, paints would be a distinct advantage
- About 5 years should be in a leadership position heading the R&D function.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the R&D setup as a world-class - Centre of Excellence-
- Motivate and mentor the team of scientists and technical analysts to obtain the best possible deliverables
- Offer innovative, technological solutions and new products to enable the Company maintain its market leadership and increase its profitability.
- Select and install state-of-the-art laboratory equipment
- Ensure that infrastructure and facilities are conducive for creative work
- Provide technical support to the QA/QC and Production functions
- Undertake trouble-shooting on any issues / problems involving products, processes or technical procedures.
- Keep abreast of technical literature, domain knowledge and patents.

The ideal candidate to have the following attributes :

- The role is managerial in nature, however the strong prior experience in technical aspects is needed to be successful in this role.
