Technical Service Engineer - Chemical (10-15 yrs)
POSITION TITLE : Technical Services Manager
POSITION SUMMARY :
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Technical Services function, determining the division of workload (samples) versus special projects (parts) and Technician training (field and in-house). Assumes responsibility for supervision of the activities of the Technical Services group and New Product Field Testing in India. Oversees the selection and monitoring of appropriate field test sites for new product development projects authorized by the Product Approval Committee. Coordinates the distributor lab technician's training and auditing of Distributor labs from Technical Services personnel.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Must have five years of experience as the leader of a specific function (R&D/QC/TS) at a single site, managing a group of five or more. Requires experience with conducting field trials of new products and performing expert troubleshooting. Must have a demonstrated ability to train Field Service Engineers and District Sales Managers in best practices.
- Direct experience in Technical Services for a specialty chemical company is desired.
- Experience as a metalworking fluids end-user (customer in a machine shop, equipment manager for a metalworking fluids supplier, or tool supplier) can be substituted. Experience managing a Quality Control function is a plus.
- Requires a strong need to drive to completion and an ability to implement new processes. Must be able to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions that are appropriate to the problem. Must be willing to travel 50% of the time or more.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES :
1. Displays a firm commitment to safety. Follows standard operating procedures and workplace safety regulations, and makes recommendations for improvements if identified
2. Execute the process of sample analysis and other procedures to allow effective use of laboratory resources in response to customer, distributor, or field personnel technical requirements
3. Ensure compliance with all established testing procedures and product specifications and support a program of continuous technical service improvement
4. Participate in technical training of field personnel and distributorship staff
5. Help to maintain security of all formulations, systems, and procedures unique to the Corporation
6. Execute the maintenance of files, testing of, and recommendations regarding competitive product samples
7. Execute and help from QC team for accuracy and precision of the equipment used in the Technical Services area by utilizing the quality tracking tools available
8. Deliver accurate data in a timely manner to appropriate persons (customers, distributors, field personnel, and internal Corporate personnel)
9. Maintenance of ISO/QS manuals as appropriate
10. Execute the LIMS database and ensure that product profiles and customer profiles are maintained
11. Execute the daily samples and special projects as requested from inside and outside customer base
12. Provide training and resources for Distributor Lab setups and audits
13. Serve as a resource for technical knowledge to help inside/outside field personnel with metalworking fluids management. Make recommendations for additives (to customers, distributors, and District Sales Managers).
14. Execute the activities of New Product Field Testing
15. Catalog the acquired data from the samples tested and distribute it to the Development Department to assist in development of new products, to the Quality Control Department to assist in monitoring of our products, and to the Training Department to assist in future courses
16. Customer visit as and when required to handle customer complaints or new product field-testing.
17. Execute and help to R&D team for APAC new product development projects.
