Traffic Operations Manager (10-15 yrs)

Qualifications and experience:
- Essential: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, marketing, sales, finance or another business- related field.
- Minimum of 10 years- professional experience, including at least 5 year's experience handling logistics and shipping operations for a global commodities company
- Extensive experience with managing multi- cultural and multi- geographic trade operations
- Team management experience
- Experience working with contract systems

- Highly organized, systematic and able to multi- task under pressure

- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and negotiation skills

POSITION SUMMARY:
- A global commodities and supply chain merchant, is actively recruiting the role of Traffic Operations Manager for its Edible Nuts, Oil Seeds and Spices Division, based at the trade desk in Dubai.
This division is a rapidly growing business for the company and includes diversification into new crop areas (e.g. sesame, cashew, pulses, spices) and geographic expansion across West and East Africa, India, Dubai and the Far East. Given the complexity of the operation, there is a need for a senior, central resource to control and co- ordinate all execution related matters end to end for the business.
This role would suit a seasoned trade, shipping and logistics manager with at least 5 years experience working with a global trading company. The role involves co- ordinating with all origin countries and clients/ brokers. The role reports into the Senior Trader and is supported by the local Trade Execution Officers
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role will have the following key responsibilities across the business:
- Create contracts, purchases and sales in the system and check and forward to the division trade head and London for approval
- Ensure documentation control for all shipping/ trade documentation including export documents, import documents, letters of credit, shipping instructions etc are in place
- Implement traffic and logistics operations SOPs across all origins and trade desks
- Manage Traffic Officers for product wide documentation and execution
- Allocate sales and purchases and provide linkages and shipment control
- Ensure adherence of all contractual terms for both purchases and sales
- Manage all client defaults including timely re- financing arrangements and instructions
- Track efficiency of all execution metrics mapped as per process flow
- Create a contract by contract record on excel capturing predetermined parameters
- Ensure validity and accuracy of letters of credit issued by suppliers and other trade financing documents
- Ensure that all the data is accurately and timeously entered into organisation's contract management systems
- Develop relationships with key service providers like shipping lines, customs house agents etc
