Unit Head - Polymerization/Spinning/Textiles/Dipping Industry (18-25 yrs)
Unit Head
Age: Not more than 50 years
Experience: 18 - 25 yrs in a unionized environment, should have had an experience as a profit centre head for at least 5 years of any set up. Should have handled a plant size of at least 700 employees
Qualification: B.Tech. (Textiles/Polymers/Rubber Technology/Chemical)
- Shall be accountable for the P&L of the Unit which he would be handling
- Should have handled at least 1 Value Chains out of Polymerization, Spinning, Textiles, Dipping
- All commercial functions and engineering functions will report to the incumbent
- Shall report to the Business Head
Planning
- Plan and maintain systems, which control inputs and outputs of the unit like production, quality, costs, and services. Compare with benchmarks.
- Update and maintain a system of planning and review to monitor inputs & outputs against plans.
- Identify repeated deviations and systemic errors from the plan and work out countermeasures.
- Identify chronic problems and plan solutions for the same. Escalate issues not coming under control within the planned duration.
- Have systems for getting feedback on employee grievances and redressal plans. Monitor progress.
- Formulate and implement improvement plans for the areas repeatedly not meeting targets/requirements. Plan Long-range goals for the unit especially for utilities and all common services.
- Deploy break through directions for the unit every year and review the effectiveness of the deployment to achieve the goals.
Cost/Profitability :
- Ensure Identification of improvement opportunities. Plan and implement the approved plans. Compare with benchmarks.
- Working with Business Heads & Business Managers and strategic sourcing to enhance the effectiveness of the organization/operational excellence.
- Review costs of conversion and enable the team to identify countermeasures and follow up on an implementation of the same.
- Review the activities of Utilities, Engineering, and all Non-manufacturing Teams to support the manufacturing teams in delivering trouble free services
- Plan, review and guide the Manufacturing Teams and Utilities to get optimum costs.
- To continuously work towards Fixed cost reduction, improvement in both white and blue collar productivity.
- To manage and achieve the lowest power cost through optimization of outsourced power
Breakthrough Management :
- Lead high impact unit level breakthrough projects.
- Review performance of all the processes in the units against control points and enable identification of countermeasures for deviations
- Deploy Business initiatives and directions to the unit.
Statutory Compliance :
- Ensure systems and processes for compliance to statutory regulations.
- Review and monitor deviations from laws, rules and established practices. Ensure compliance of all requirements.
People Development
- Improve the morale of the employees to get the optimum performance.
- Guide implementation of people development programmes.
- Work for growth opportunities for the team members
Safety, Health & Environment
- Create countermeasures for major incidents/near misses. Support to reduce accident opportunities through review of improvement plans.
- Ensure responses to suggestions received.
- Campaign through effective principles and policies
People Management, Legal & CSR
- Ensure cordial relationship with the Union through collective bargaining on all matters of strategic importance.
- Provide all support to solve all HR and IR issues in the Unit
- Champion for the implementation of CSR activities
Customer Satisfaction
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction at all times in delivering the right product, at the right place, at the right time and as per the requirements of the Customers.
- Provide common support services to Administration, Safety, Health, Environment, Materials & Logistics, and -
- Accounts for all the Business segments in the Unit as per the needs of the respective Business Heads/Business Managers.
- Ensure adequate contacts with the outside stakeholders to enable support for difficulties
Decision-Making Boundaries
- Can take decisions within the approved budget to meet the organizational objectives.
- Approval of CapEx budgets as per Delegation of Authority
- To take actions and discharge duties as Factory Manager
- Discharging duties as outlined in the Power of Attorney
- Entering in to bi-lateral settlement with the Union based on the guiding principles of the top Management
- Approval of Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Contracts and all commercial expenditure as outlined in the - Delegation of Authority.
- Recruitment of blue collared staff
