Position: Quality Manager- Dairy [Grade - ]

Industry: Dairy, Food & Beverages Production

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Roles & Responsibilities (but not limited to):

- To ensure that microbiological analysis of raw material / in-process and finished products as per the international standards and the product released meets the regulatory requirements and is safe for human consumption.

- To execute microbiological checks on all the raw materials & finished products in the foods as per the laid down procedures & provide feedback on deviations, if any, to the concerned functions like Manufacturing, Purchase etc., for corrective actions

- Responsible for monitoring the hygiene and sanitation of the Plant/ Processes/Environment and Personal Hygiene and suggesting the corrective actions accordingly and to generate awareness of personal hygiene and educating the staff and workmen regarding the effect & impact of Microbiological contamination and hazards in order to meet international norms

- To verify the microbiological quality of the packed stock meant for the domestic and export markets

- Carryout cleaning validations for new equipment and existing equipment and suggest effective methods of cleaning for ensuring right product quality

- Support the validation activities in terms of design, operational and performance qualification of the process and laboratory equipment

- To support in preparation of Opex & Capex budgets, making the PIPs and close follow-up of high spend heads & to execute all the activities in a cost effective way within the budgeted overheads pertaining to Microbiology function through effective co-ordination and cost control measures (EHS standard - 302)

- Impart training to workmen and staff on GMP requirements and QMS requirements

- Involve in method development activities in consultation with R&D and in updating the microbiology manual

- Carryout stability studies for all the products manufactured as per the GQP requirements

- Preparation of SOPs and work instructions whenever new QMS requirements become effective. Carryout gap analysis of new QMS documents and take actions for their implementation

- Ensure that the laboratory operates with calibrated equipment and carryout performance qualifications of the equipment, as per the frequencies

- Meet the requirements of EHS/PCB in handling of Bio-hazardous waste generated at the site

- To ensure the Microbiological compliance of ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and HACCP requirements in and around the manufacturing facility by regular interaction with all stakeholders

- Ensure all the requirements as per the ISO 9000:2000 / QMS elements and implementing the updated requirements in Quality Assurance to improve & sustain the systems

Educational Qualification

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelors / Master of Science in Microbiology (Diary/Foods) or equivalent.

Experience

At least 10-15 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
