Level Of Job Responsibility :
- Suitable candidate would be a Graduate Engineer with atleast 10 - 15 years of exposure with Construction Companies specializing in residential.
- Should be able to lead and guide a Team of Construction Managers,
- Establishing Construction Methodology, imbibe a quality oriented work culture, organize and direct teams of Construction workers, Plan, Prepare, Monitor, and maintain Construction Plants and
- Equipments and above all have belief and exposure in EHS or at least earnestness in being trained for the same.
- He would be responsible for overall progress and smooth running of projects, duly monitoring projects for time, cost and quality at all levels.
- Resolve routine construction site issues locally and fairly; break down barriers to progress
Position Purpose :
- Accountable for the project(s) construction execution in compliance with the project(s) objectives including safety, quality, schedule and cost, covering construction, commissioning and start up phases by managing key construction contractors and other stakeholders of the project.
- Responsibilities also include ensuring the construction site is compliant with Federal, Provincial / State, Local laws and regulations, as well as Firmenich guidelines, policies and procedures.
- This role reports to the project(s) manager(s) is in integral part of the projects team(s). It requires strong communication between other project team members, Firmenich Operations leaders and other divisions (such as QHSE, Purchasing, IS, GWS).
Principal Accountabilities :
Construction Leadership :
- Engage at all levels of the organization to lead achieving a strong zero injury safety culture
- Establish site management procedures and work flows
- Select construction supervision staff
- Create, foster and maintain in the field staff a sense of and a morale for mutual assistance and team - work
- Ensure frequent and active dialogue with all key stakeholders
- Directs and runs regular construction management meeting, issue minutes / reports.
- Assist project manager in management and reporting aspects
- Project Construction Planning
- Implement and monitor a HSE program, report shortcomings and recommend corrective and / or preventative measures to be taken
- Establish site working conditions, welfare facilities and other related matters.
- Identify and manage risks
- Monitor construction schedules and planning, coordinate inspections and make forecasts to avoid any potential delay
- Coordinate the schedules and activities of the respective contractors so as to avoid any potential conflict or interference between or amongst their works
Project Construction Execution :
- Monitors the contractor(s) activities with respect to conformity to the requirements of the respective contracts
- Monitors the on - site fabrication and installation of all equipment and materials and other supplies included in the contracts to ensure compliance with specifications and the terms of the contracts
- Coordinate the interface among each site functions to ensure site organization runs smoothly
- Ensure that related procedures are adhered to, in accordance with project requirements
- Coordinate with other site functions to meet project requirements
- Coordinate the installation and final inspection visits by Vendor representatives and equipment suppliers.
- Identify technical conflicts and / or omissions, and coordinates resolution with the Engineering Manager.
- Provide interpretations as required of technical documents (plans and specifications).
- Organize, in coordination with the Project Manager and the Plant Manager, the participation of the Firmenich personnel in the pre - operational testing, verifications, inspections and start - up
- Implement a change management process
Project Construction Control :
- Develop and implement quality control programs. Ensure each contractor maintains proper workmanship quality, enforce and assure each contractor's sufficient adherence to the approved technical documents in performing his given works to assure the quality of the works performed meets the requirements
- Collect all the required data representing the current status of the construction works, covering such items as work progress, quality control activities, staff plan, problems and issues
- Monitor performance against the schedule and implement corrective action, as necessary
- Approves progress billings, evaluates and recommends action to be taken on extra work and change orders, verifies completion, coordinates warranty work and generally monitors all construction related aspects of the project(s)
- Monitors the overall construction budget and provides support with respect to the control and negotiation of claims and back charges, and the identification, approval and control of extras and scope changes
- Coordinate and report on a weekly and monthly basis on all contract execution status
Qualifications :
Required :
- Engineer Degree in civil, mechanical, electrical or process engineering
- 20+ years of experience in Project or Construction Management on large capital projects in the chemical, food or life science sectors
- Demonstrated high levels of organization, written / verbal communication and documentation skills
- Familiar with the local international related standard and specifications
- Fluent English
Preferred :
- Proficient in CAD design and project or business software, e.g. Microsoft Office, Autocad, Visio, MS Project, Primavera, etc.
