Zimplistic - Senior Tooling Engineer (8-15 yrs)

We take on problems that have never been solved before, like automating flatbreads that have been made by hand for centuries at the click of a button. This should either scare you or get you super excited. Many companies before us tried and failed in solving this problem because we are perhaps a bit crazy and super multidisciplinary in our problem-solving approach.
We are seeking for a qualified, experienced individual to join our company as a Tooling Engineer. As part of our team, you will engage in all hands-on processes for developing and tooling parts and components.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage Tool Installing activities from design review, scheduling control of tools delivery, site installation, test & commissioning with Tools Owner / Vendors / Contractors
- Design tool parts and components according to blueprints and requirements. Perform design reviews of products for manufacturability.
- Conduct mold-making (DFM) design reviews with internal and external tooling manufacturers.
- Lead the development of plastic molding/die casting, Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA's), stamping processes and progressive die strip layouts for new model parts optimized for cost and quality on a timely basis. Assist with the improvement and refinement of tooled pieces and tooling processes.
- Update and maintain existing die/Mold process information for the inclusion of improvements, service requirements, and carryover modified part releases required for new model usage.
- Optimize the molding process on cycle Time/machine Tonnage/quality problem resolution/weight etc
- Vendor audit of existing tooling/molding suppliers and induction of new vendors.
- Ability to define and establish Critical to Functions (CTFs), estimate piece-parts and tooling cost of plastic, metal parts, and significantly reduce tooling cost and parts.
- Work with QC, engineering, and other departments to communicate challenges and requirements.
- Monitor tool life, proactively plan capex for repeat tools, coordinate on qualification and timely supplies
What You- ll Need to Succeed:
- Master/bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related technical field
- 10 years of experience in tool design.
- Hands on experience in plastic molding is a must
- Prior designing experience and tooling parts in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong math and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency with computers and standard drafting software.
- Proficiency with 3D Experience and Solid Works.
